The Perfect Red

Chanel cosmetics are one of those things I wish I'd never tried. Because they're good. Really good. And expensive.

I figured if I'm going to pull off bright red lipstick - it had better be quality. So here I am, the proud new owner of a Chanel, Rouge Hydrabase Lipstick in "Saturn".

This is the perfect red lipstick. Not too blue, not too orange. Very soft on the lips, not cakey and doesn't bleed.

How come Dame Edna's red lipstick never bleeds?

And I don't mean literally, although with heels climbing ever higher, that does apply.

I mean Bill Cunningham's (NYTimes) observation that the shoe may be replacing the handbag as the primary object of worship.

Glad to see the rest of the world is catching up.
